"HOW LONG?"
One by one the cars pull out,
Slowly they form a line.
She's gone for sure, without a doubt,
She's not coming home this time.
Everyone says, "She's all right;
She was always so kind and good."
They say, "She will be with Jesus tonight;
Just like every saint should."
How long, How long can we go on;
Going our own way?
How long, how long can we go on;
Leading people wrong -
Saying everyone's okay?
That's the world's message of today;
Everybody's doing things their own way.
It didn't work with Adam, nor the Jews;
And it won't work with people
Wearing their best Sunday shoes.
Most people think it's something that they can do;
A sequence of steps, you know, 1 then 2.
They've never found out they're really lost,
And that to follow Jesus there is a cost.
How can we pretend everything is all right,
When the Son never came and gave her life.
It's so very, very sad to say;
But she's really, really not okay.
