It's great when the doors swing open wide and the children are home for a while.
Hugs and kisses are in order and there's always those warm contagious smiles.
But then, too soon, it's "Good-bye" and "I'll see you again. Don't stay gone so long this time."
Oh, how I wish we could stay at home with family day and night.
Now, it's good to know when the weeks been long, my Father is here for me;
And I can rest on Him and share my joy with the whole family.
We can cry; we can laugh; we can forget about the past and thank God for the grace we've seen.
When we gather at home, and lay before the throne; now that's living to me!
It's so good to be home around Daddy's chair.
I can lose all my sorrows and gain much strength there.
I can pray for my brothers and just meet with God;
He knows what I've been through, He knows where I've trod.
As I toil in the field of this life every day; I see so-called "families" in such disarray.
No comfort for pain, no hope for tomorrow;
They smile and they boast to hide all their sorrow.
I thank God for the day this orphan so lost was asked to consider , to really count the cost.
It didn't take long to see, I was needy for the family of God to love me and feed me.
Now Mom and Dad and the little ones are fine;
But it's little more than a picture of that which is divine.
My wife and my children are a blessing, indeed;
And God has entrusted these precious people to me.
That's why more than ever, and everyday of my life,
I need God and His Family - the precious Bride of Christ.
You see this is real family, the kind that really counts.
Without it I'm empty; without it I doubt,
That I'd live very long - spiritually speaking,
With all the lions outside stalking and creeping.
Yes, this is the best place; why continue to roam?
Seek God, with His Family. We're right here at home.
