"THANK GOD FOR TROUBLE"

Thank you Lord for the wind that blows

my sails and sends my ship into the deep;

and the rain that falls so hard and cold,

that drives me straight to my knees;

and for the pain of losing life when there's so much life to gain;

and for the dark that seems so great that gives way to life again.

Thank you God for saving me,

glorifying Yourself when I am weak,

and loving me when all I can do is need.

Where would I be had the storm not come;

on my own strength would I rely;

and down I'd go as to defeat I'd succumb,

when from God I removed my eyes.

Oh how sweet to His arms return when the fool tires of his own.

No greater thing than to be driven by need,

to the base of God's holy throne.

I would never have gone had I not felt the emptiness of my soul.

I would never have sought Him, no never have called,

if by grace He had not let me know,

that without Him I'd die the death that never ends,

alone forever, never knowing a friend.

I thank God for the trouble that pressed me sore,

so I could seek Him who would love me,

and would leave me never more.
