"HEREIN LIES YOUR HOPE"

One December morning, as the wind enhanced the cold,

We awaited the arrival of one - dear as gold.

I remember the excitement as the hours ticked away.

I knew soon, very soon, I'd be a brother on that day.

Now I can't really remember the hour we received the call,

But as I ran outside rejoicing, the snow began to fall.

Now many things have happened - many good and many bad,

But I'll always be thankful for the sister I've had.

You are an object of joy and pride of which I speak,

And with this I shall add a promise I will keep.

When the wind of the storm of this world begins to toss,

Don't forget to call me - one who has suffered loss.

I know the jagged rocks; I've dwelt in the dark,

And I know the feeling of an empty, lonely heart.

The world in which you go is mean and cold at best.

But be assured of this, God can give you rest.

Now you know I love you, Sis, so this chest with my own hands

I have made for you this day. So the symbol of it stands,

When the days are long and you find it impossible to cope,

Please remember this, "Here in lies your Hope."

Note: I made my sister, Karen Hunt, a hope chest before she went to college and placed within it the testimonies of the members of Grace Baptist Church.
