In this passage of scripture, find God's chosen way to save. These are the words of life for the hungry and thirsty soul.In the verses before this one, we see Isaiah crying out for anyone who is hungry and thirsty to come and listen: to hear his words and live. His words would lead them to life, an everlasting covenant, and the sure mercies of David. However, these words are lost today in a sea of voices claiming an easy road to salvation. They cry "All you have to do is say these words after me, 'Jesus be merciful to me a sinner'," yet they leave out the principle of seeking the Lord.
It is here we see the breakdown of our evangelism, for men today are told they have peace with God, when they have not sought the Lord, nor found the reality of his presence. The Bible says, in John 17:3, "And this is life eternal, that they might know the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Eternal life is finding the reality of God, yet the Bible also says, "ye shall find him when ye seek him with all your heart."ONT>
Seeking is man's way os saying to God, "I want you; I need you; and I must have you." Seeking causes us to draw near to God, which in turn, cause God to draw near to us. When God draws near, it is then time to call on him. Truly, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, however this never works until a man has sought God with his whole heart. The rich young ruler is a good example of a man who wanted eternal life, but his heart was far from God, holding on to money. Even though Jesus loved him, he let him go.If you will not seek the Lord with the whole heart, he will not hear you when you call.
