FAITH
I. True faith comes as a result
of hearing from
God, and becomes evidence of the reality of what God has spoken to that
individual - Romans 10:17; Galatians 3:2; Ephesians 1:13; Hebrews 11:1.
II. There are
different qualities of
faith which
may be exhibited in one's life;
A. Intellectual
Faith (Based
on facts available to anyone - Does not necessarily lead to salvation)-
John 2:23-25, 12:42-43; Romans 1:19-21; II Timothy 3:15; James 2:19.
B. Seeking Faith
(Causes one
to seek God, His ways, and Truth) - Isaiah 55:6; Mark 2:3-4; Luke 19:3;
John 3:2, 6:26-66; Hebrews 11:6-8.
C. Beseeching
Faith (Leads
one to call on God when in His presence) - Isaiah 55:6; Matthew
14:35-36;
Mark 7:25-29; Luke 7:3-9; Romans 10:13-14.
D. Saving Faith
(Causes one
to totally rely on God with no admixture of doubt, ceasing from all
self-effort;
it is a heart action, produced by a supernatural work of the Holy
Spirit)
- Psalm 34:22; Matthew 11:28, 21:21; Luke 7:50; Romans 4:4, &18-22,
10:9-11;
II Corinthians 1:9; Ephesians 1:13, 2:8-9; Colossians 2:12; Hebrews
4:3&10.
E. Effectual Faith
(faith
which produces obedience) - James 2:14-26; I Peter 1:21-22.
F. Abiding Faith
(Which a
believer walks in after salvation; it endures to the end)

5:4.
III. Faith is required by God -
Galatians 5:6;
Hebrews 11:6.
IV. Faith is a gift - Galatians 2:20,
5:22; Ephesians
2:8-9; Colossians 2:12; Hebrews
12:2;
II Peter 1:1.
V. Faith is required to withstand the
attacks
of Satan and the world - Ephesians
6:16;
I Thessalonians 5:8; I Timothy 6:12; I John 5:4.
VI. Faith may have varying degrees
and can be
strengthened - Matthew 8:10, 16:8; Mark 4:40, 9:23-24; Luke 7:9,
17:5-10;
Romans 4:19-21, 14:1; James 1:3; I Peter 1:7; II Peter 1:5-7.
VII. The object of faith is the
person of Christ
- John 5:39-40&46-47, 14:1; Acts 20:21; Hebrews 6:1.
VIII. All men have not faith - Mark
4:40; II
Thessalonians 3:2; Hebrews 4:1-2.
