WHAT IS SALVATION?

Salvation of a man's soul is;

    I. A deliverance-

        A. From the law - Romans 7:6; Galatians 3:13.

        B. From sin - Matthew 1:21; I Timothy 1:15.

            1. From its penalty - John 3:17-18, 12:47; Romans 6:23, 8:1-2.

            2. From its power - Colossians 1:13; Romans 6:7-14; I John 3:9.

            3. From its presence [future] - I Corinthians 15:50-53; Revelation 21:4&27;

                II Corinthians 5:1-4; Romans 8:23.

        C. From wrath to come - I Thessalonians 1:10; Romans 5:9.

        D. From works - Matthew 11:28; Hebrews 4:3-4,&10, 6:1, 9:14; Ephesians 2:8-9.

        E. From vain traditions - I Peter 1:18; Acts 14:15; Hebrews 9:10; Matthew 15:2-6;

            Mark 7:5-13; Colossians 2:8&22.

II. A restoration of man's acceptance by God [reconciliation] - Romans 5:10;

I Corinthians 1:9;

    II Corinthians 5:18; Ephesians 1:6, 2:11-18; Colossians 1:20-21; Hebrews 2:17; I John 1:3.

III. An undeserved gift arising out of God's mercy and grace - Ephesians 2:4-8; Titus 3:5.

IV. A divine operation of God - Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 2:12-13; Psalm 107.

V. A spiritual death - Romans 6:2-11; Colossians 3:3; II Timothy 2:11; I Peter 2:24; Romans 7:1-4.

VI. A spiritual birth - John 1:12-13, 3:3-6; I Peter 1:23.

VII. Is living for that to which we were once dead and being dead to that for which we once lived - Romans 6:11-13; Galatians 2:19-20, 6:14.

VIII. Is passing from spiritual darkness [i.e. ignorance & death] - Luke 1:79; John 11:9-10, 12:46;  Acts 26:18; Colossians 1:13; I Peter 2:9, coming to spiritual light [i.e. understanding & enlightenment] - John 8:12; II Corinthians 4:6; Hebrews 6:4; John 3:19-21, to become a spiritual light [i.e. child of light] - John 12:35-36; Ephesians 5:8&13; I Thessalonians 5:5.

IX. Is a putting off of the old way of life and putting on a new way - Ephesians 4:22-24;

    Colossians 3:9-10.

X. Is a new walk [i.e. way of life as exhibited in our actions, attitudes and relationships] -

    Romans 6:4; II Corinthians 5:16-18.

        A. In the Spirit - Romans 8:1-4 &14; Galatians 5:16-25.

        B. In love - Ephesians 5:1.

        C. In light - Ephesians 5:8; I John 1:6-10; III John 1:4.

        D. In the day - Romans 13:12-14.

        E. In good works - Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:10.

        F. In understanding - Ephesians 4:17-20, 5:15.

        G. In honesty - I Thessalonians 4:12; Romans 13:13.

XI. A sealing of The Holy Spirit until the actual day of redemption - Romans 8:23; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30; Luke 21:28.

XII. The fulfillment of God's purpose-

        A. To defeat Satan - Genesis 3:14-15; Ephesians 3:8-11; Colossians 2:14-15.

        B. To restore fallen man to a relationship and fellowship with Himself -

                Ephesians 1:5; Jeremiah 30:17.

        C. To bring glory to Himself - Romans 15:7; II Corinthians 1:20, 4:15; Ephesians 1:3-14.
