The Scriptures
I. The
Scriptures
are inspired by God and are
thus infallible and inerrant - Jeremiah 36:2;
Ezekiel
1:3; John 14:26; Acts 1:16; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21.
II. The
Scriptures
were written by holy men of
old - Exodus 24:4; Hebrews 1:1-2; II Peter 1:21.
III. All
Scriptures must be interpreted in light
of the writer's context and are not to be added to or taken away from.-
Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Acts 17:11; II Peter 1:20;
Revelations
22:19
IV. Scripture
was
given for the good of men -
Deuteronomy
17;18-20;
Psalm 19:7-8, 119:11, 105, 140; Romans 15:4; II Timothy 3:15-17; I
Peter
1:19; 2:2.
V. The Scripture
is certain in its fulfillment.-
I Kings 8:56; Matthew 5:18; Luke 24:44;
Acts 2:16.
VI. The
Scriptures
are sure, unchanging and can
be trusted - Psalm 119:89; Isaiah 40:8, 55:11; Ezekiel 12:25; Luke
21:33;
I Peter 1:25.
VII. The
Scriptures are a witness.-John 5:39;
20:31.
VIII. The
Scriptures are not an end in themselves,
but are a means to an end -
John 5:39;
II Timothy 3:15; II Peter 1:19.
IX. The
Scriptures
alone are not sufficient to
bring men to salvation.-
Romans 10:14-17;
I Corinthians 1:21; 2:13-14; II Peter 1:19.
