Sin

I. The definition of sin according to scripture:
   

     A. Whatever is not of faith -Romans 14:23.
   

     B. Knowingly not doing good - James 4:17.
   

     C. All unrighteousness - I John 5:17.
   

     D. To transgress the Law - I John 3:4


II. Sin's origins are:
   

     A. Adam and Eve - Genesis 3:6; Romans 5:12&19.
   

     B. The devil - John 8:44
   

     C. Temptation and lust conceiving - James 1:13-15


III. Sin is universal - Genesis 6:5; Psalm 53:2-3; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:9-12&23, 5:12; I Kings 8:46; I John 1:8-10.


IV. Sin is inherent - Exodus 34:7; Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12.


V. Sin will deceive - Romans 7:11; I Timothy 2:14; II Timothy 3:13; Hebrews 3:13.


VI. Sin is forbidden by God - Ezekiel 18:4; I Corinthians 15:34; John 8:11; I John 2:1.


VII. Sin is loved by men - Job 15:16; Jeremiah 14:10; Psalm 52:3; John 3:20; Hebrews 11:25.


VIII. Sin is despised by the saints - Romans 7:14-15; II Peter 2:7; Hebrews 11:25-26.


IX. Sin causes death - Romans 5:12, 6:23; Genesis 2:17; Ezekiel 18:4.


X. Sin separates us from God - Isaiah 59:1-2; Exodus 33:2-3; Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 64:7.


XI. Sin causes bondage - Proverbs 5:22; Acts 8:23; Romans 6:16; John 8:34.


XII. Sin is concealed by men - Genesis 3:8; Joshua 7:21; Isaiah 30:1; John 3:19-21; 15:22.


XIII. Sin causes shame - Ezra 9:6; Genesis 2:25, 3:10; Job 8:22; Psalm 44:15; Proverbs 11:2


XIV. Sin will be punished - Exodus 34:7; II Thessalonians 1:8-9; Romans 3:23; Ezekiel 18:4.


XV. Sin is to be forsaken - Isaiah 55:7; Hebrews 12:1; I Peter 2:11; Proverbs 9:6.


XVI. Sin can be forgiven through the Lord Jesus Christ - Mark 2:5; Colossians 2:13; Psalm 130:4; Acts 13:38.
