The recent winter weather the country has experienced reminds me of times past when I ventured into a new snow. I was always captivated by the beauty of a fresh undisturbed snow. How it took off the sharp edges of the landscape and gave it smooth gentle lines, very pleasing to the eye. The snow seemed to embrace the Earth covering the shame of its bareness. Since I've been saved I've acquired a new appreciation for the wintry blanket which occasionally covers the ground. The snow reminds me of the Grace of God in a person's life. Before the snow falls the scene is one of death; black, gray and bleak. So too was my life before I experienced the Grace of God. No evidence of life anywhere. As the snow gently falls, it covers all that's dead and makes it pure and beautiful. God, covered the bareness of my dead works with the Son's blood, creating a new, pure and beautiful life in His sight. Now my shame is gone.
Each flake of snow differs from another, making the possible shapes and sizes limitless. So too, the Grace of God is multifaceted. Diverse enough to meet any need.
I thank God for His work of Grace in my heart. His grace is still working in my life, smoothing out those many rough edges, conforming me into the image of His Son.
Hopefully the next time you awake to a fresh snow, you'll be reminded of when His grace fell upon your life. And look forward to discovering some new beautiful winter scene around life's next corner.
Let's enjoy God's Winter Wonderland,
