The Way of Man Vs.
The Way of God
Thus saith the
LORD, Stand ye in the ways,
and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk
therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will
not walk therein.
Jeremiah 6:16 If there ever was a time when men needed rest for their souls that time is now. However, people seem to be turning to everyone but God when having trouble with their mind, will or their emotions. Yet God is the one that created them and knows what they need. In the above passage God is pleading with man to walk in his way because there is great benefit in doing so and yet man's reply was NO! I hope that will not be yours. There seems to be many ways in this world to deal with our problems, but this is because the ways of a man are right in his own eyes. So, this makes for many paths to go down, as many paths as there are men. But the Lord says that the end of those ways are death. God's way is the only way to find real rest for the soul. Men today want you to believe that there are many ways to get to God, but God's word teaches otherwise. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. - Mark 7:13-14 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6 God's word says that in the last days there would be those who have itching ears and heap up teachers to themselves. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; II Timothy 4:3 I am afraid that we are living in a day when there are many teaching about Christ but not many basing their teaching on sound doctrine. They are instead giving people what they want, not what they need. When the desires of men control what the doctrines of our churches are to be, then we have left the path that will give rest to our membership. When preachers seek after people more than God the result is a church full of the opinions of man. The Church is supposed to be the pillar and ground of the truth, not a discussion group of one man's opinion about a verse as compared to another. Let me leave you with a little food for thought from the Bible. Now
go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may
be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious
people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the
LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy
not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy
deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the
Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
